This colonial town, is part of the Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns) of Mexico, it is an incredibly conserved architectural beauty, that has caught the eye of many with its Historical Center and its houses with wide patios and delighting outdoor views, it captivates you when you encounter its flowery balconies that are watered every morning, turning into snapshots that you can immortalize forever.

 

Its popular festivities, ceremonies and processions are part of the history of San Cristóbal de las Casas, whose origins date back to the beginning of the year 1500, but preserve an even more ancient past, with voices that protect the Tzetzal language, which belongs to an ethnic group, descendants of the ancient Mayans and that has survived for several generations.

 

From the top of its streets, its baroque and neoclassical buildings stand out, such is the case of the Cathedral of San Cristóbal Mártir, built more than four centuries ago, along with the Ex-Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, which was built a few years later. The latter is characterized by detailed ornamental patterns, which are sure to draw your attention. Take enough time to fully appreciate them when you visit!

 

Unlike other towns that start their activities very early and call it a day at sundown, San Cristóbal de las Casas offers a lot to do, as it seems to never sleep. Its nightlife is just as entertaining as the ones offered in big cities.

San Cristóbal de las Casas is located just one hour away from Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. To make a better call on your next trip, you should know that between the months of January and April, and from November to December, this Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) has excellent weather. The rainiest season is from June to September.
