Coyoacán

Coyoacán is a charming neighborhood in Mexico City that offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and vibrant urban life. Known for its cobblestone streets, colorful colonial houses, and lush gardens, Coyoacán is a must-visit destination for those seeking an authentic and tradition-rich Mexican experience.

One of the main attractions in Coyoacán is the Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as La Casa Azul, where the famous Mexican artist lived and worked. Visitors can explore Frida Kahlo’s life and work, as well as learn about her relationship with Diego Rivera. Another highlight is the Diego Rivera Anahuacalli Museum, which houses an impressive collection of pre-Hispanic art gathered by Rivera himself.

Plaza Hidalgo and Jardín Centenario are the heart of Coyoacán, where locals and tourists gather to enjoy artisan markets, live music, and delicious traditional foods. You cannot miss trying the churros and coffee from El Jarocho, two icons of the neighborhood. Additionally, the Coyoacán Market is an ideal place to buy crafts and taste traditional dishes.

Coyoacán is also famous for its cultural festivals, such as the Day of the Dead Festival, featuring elaborate altars, parades, and live performances. Historic churches, like the Parish of San Juan Bautista, add a touch of majesty to the neighborhood’s cultural landscape.
