Find your favorite destination and explore its charms

Like Mapimí, right in the desert, Nombre de Dios (In the Name of God) is a Durango’s Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) 20 minutes away from the state's capital city. Founded by Spanish in 1563, is the entity’s oldest community.

As a curiosity, Fray Gerónimo de Mendoza established San Francisco’s mission around 1556, where the first in the name of God’s mass was celebrated. That’s why the municipality adopted the name.

Upon reaching this Pueblo Mágico, El Saltito waterfalls stand out, crossed by Mezquital River which runs through three imposing-over 20 meters high waterfalls.

If you keep walking you’ll find an ancient forest whose thick roots stick out of the ground creating whimsical formations. This area known as Los Salones has been a location in films such as El Zorro and Un Dorado de Pancho Villa.

If traveling to Durango city, you could make a quick getaway to Nombre de Dios. Here are two boutique hotels just in case the day wouldn’t be enough to visit La Villa de Nombre de Dios and San Juan spas, as well as the Berros water spring. In its pools you’ll refresh from this Pueblo Mágico’s characterizing warming climate.

How to get to? You can rent a car or travel by bus from Durango, as Nombre de Dios has its own station.
