Charming ancestral town If you want to visit a magical and surreal place, then travel to the Magical Town of Xilitla, in San Luis Potosí. Located 8 hours from Mexico City, The Huasteca Potosina is beautiful from wherever you admire it and this town is no exception, you will be fascinated. When you arrive at the city of Xilitla, you will love its settings. Here the weather is temperate almost all year round and has very varied vegetation. The name is attributed to the Nahua Indians and means “place of cozoles.” The founding of the town dates back to the 16th century making it the oldest town in all of San Luis Potosí. And although Xilitla has a small territorial extension, it has incomparable greatness. The warmth of its people and their friendliness will surprise you. The gastronomy and natural beauty of Xilitla For all visitors, it will be very easy to find where to eat in Xilitla and a hotel to stay. We recommend you visit Querreque, a place that offers a great variety of Mexican food. Or if you prefer to taste a dish in the sunlight, go to Los Cayos and ask for a table on the beautiful terrace. The Pearl of the Huasteca Potosina, as it is also known, has beautiful coffee plantations that add magic to the area. Being in a jungle area is just another plus. Downtown you may visit the castle or walk through the main square. Once there, we recommend you visit the Miguel Hidalgo garden and take a photo at the central kiosk. A few meters away you will find the Ex-Convent of San Agustin, which was built as a refuge to contain the attacks of the Chichimecas in 1557. The site withstood a tireless fight and some wars which left it brutally destroyed. If you go inside, you will notice that the main entrance was previously the back.
