Magical coffee town Just 30 minutes from Xalapa City, in the middle of a mesophilic forest, you can find the Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) of Coatepec, Veracruz, also known as “Mexico’s Coffee Capital”.
Coatepec is the biggest and most important region in the coffee-growing sector. It possess the biggest tradition in our country in this regard.   It was declared a Historical Heritage Site and is located near hills, waterfalls and lakes. Coatepec mixes a Colonial Charm with Country settings. This town holds more than 350 houses of a rich cultural heritage. This is why Coatepec is a must-see in the list of many travelers around the world.   Talking a little about history, in the year 1808, the owners of the Hacienda Zimpizahua introduced coffee seeds in the region. To everyone's surprise Coatepec’s land turned out to have a great soil for coffee. The inhabitants then started to cultivate this coffee tradition.   You can enjoy Coatepec all year long; it poses a warm humid weather which is why the forest are always green in addition to propitiate successful coffee harvest.   How to get to this charming destination? If you are coming from Puebla or Tlaxcala it will take you 2 hours and 45 minutes to get here. From the city of Pachuca, about 3 hours and 45 minutes whereas if you are coming from Mexico City, 4 hours and 30 minutes.
