Get to know Valle de Piedras Encimadas (Stacked Stone Valley)

Zacatlán de las Manzanas, located in Puebla, is known for the natural wonders that surround it, such as the impressive Valley of Standing Stones, just 15 minutes from the city center.

Upon arriving at this incredible spot, you'll immediately understand why it's called that: it's composed of over 240 rock formations of volcanic origin, of monumental dimensions, shaped solely by the force of the wind. Although locals prefer to keep alive the legend that these formations were created by giants. Some of these stone sculptures are over a million years old, according to scientific studies conducted by UNAM in 2009.

Amidst the mist, you'll be able to distinguish "towers," "animals," or "human figures," all products of the imagination that bring these rocks to life. Some even defy the laws of gravity, standing upright on flat or sloped surfaces. These structures are scattered throughout the valley, which covers an area of 300 hectares, making it a perfect place for hiking. But if you prefer not to walk, you have the option to rent a horse or an ATV to visit the most famous formations.

In addition to exploration, the Valley of Standing Stones offers extreme activities, such as a 600-meter-long zip-line circuit and "human battles" inside giant plastic bubbles, where you can face off against your friends in fun bounce battles. There's also a small zoo.

During weekends, you can enjoy the sale of Mexican street food on-site. Or if you prefer, you can bring your own food and enjoy a picnic in the midst of the pine forest.
