The state of Campeche is located in the southeast region of the country on the Yucatán Peninsula. It is known as the walled city and a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The state capital city still preserves traces of its deep Mayan heritage and protects ancient pirate stories. Its territory is rich in mangroves, jungle and coasts. Its northern border faces Yucatán and its eastern border faces Quintana Roo.
